| A Rebirth |
I abandoned my old website in mid-February due to being burnt out. Two things in particular caused this – finishing up my Associate of Science degree and a very unhealthy relationship. After finishing my last final on March 20th and getting my Associate of Science degree, all of the stress I was feeling evaporated. College was over until 2001, the relationship dissolved, and I was Tennessee-bound for a week.
The trip to Tennessee was to visit relatives that I hadn’t seen in eight years, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable experiences that I’ve had. I’d put it right up there with the original Nintendo experience and the NES Renaissance that I had, which I’d gotten away from thanks to the aforementioned stresses.
As soon as I returned from Tennessee, I had nothing to do besides go to work. I tried getting a band together with a couple friends of mine, but nothing much came of it. After a while, all I was doing outside of work was surfing the Internet aimlessly and listening to trashy TV talk shows while I did so. I was in a rut and needed to do something about it. Thankfully, it dawned on me that I should start up a NES tribute site again.
I dove back into my NES game collection and started reading other NES sites like nobody’s business. Over the past month, I’ve done some of the most enjoyable research ever – playing NES games, reading others’ opinions on NES-related subjects, and remembering all the nostalgia related to that little grey toaster. It’s almost as if my NES Renaissance had a second coming. I don’t think it ever truly went away, though there’s no doubt that it was definitely buried for a while.
As of late, I’ve been playing Nintendo games like mad and working on Nintendo-A-GoGo with the same unbridled ferocity. I’m back and better than ever, and it’s all thanks to the power of Nintendo!
